How to pull 100 foot-pounds ...               

Me pappy once overhauled the old family Dodge.  I said an OLD Dodge - the ones that had straight six engines with the valves in the block (L-head engine, I think they called them).  The torque spec on the main bearing cap bolts was pretty significant, and he was working on his back, under the car, in the gravel driveway.  His spec for torque-ing those main cap bolts was "pull until your shirt rips."
