Belt tensioner restraining tool
Two 1/4"
bolts secured by nuts in a piece of angle-iron about 5 1/2" long by 1"
wide. The bolt hole spacing is nominally 4 1/2" for 94 and later but
it was more like 5 1/8" for my 91; I would expect that to be true for 92
as well, and probably for older cars too. 93? ... I dunno, 93 was a
transition year. Bar material
should be angle-iron (steel, actually), not flat steel (my 1/8" mild steel bar bent badly
and often!). Quarter-inch bolts 1" to 1 ½" long should do.
The bolts fit into notches in the
tensioner brackets; careful inspection of the brackets should make the intended
use obvious.
