Tools
& materials required/desired for heated seat repair
- Torx T50 "bit"
- (for 91 power seats, anyway - other seats may use a different size)
- I've heard T35 and T40, so check yours to be sure - most likely,
you'll have to buy a set anyway to cover any of these sizes, and
it's good to have a set of Torx bits, as they're being used more and
more
- Torx T10 and T25 bits (included in the Saab tool kit)
- For removing plastic trim panels from power seats
- 3/8" drive ratchet
- Desirable: 3/8" x 12" breaker bar, to break bolts loose
- Also easier to get into cramped spaces
- Torx T40 bit or 17mm socket
- For removing seat belt anchor
- Desirable: ohm meter, to measure heater and thermister resistance
- A test light or buzzer should do for the heater element check
- It's probably not necessary to check the thermister
- Utility knife
- Soldering iron and electronics-grade solder
- Coat hanger
- Desirable: Common, needle nose and diagonal cutter pliers
